Short answer. If you want a quick, accurate floor plan in a browser on a computer, with tidy 2D and 3D images to share, Floorplanner is the better choice: it has been doing that since 2007, the free account keeps 5 projects for as long as you like, and you pay per project only when you want bigger exports. If you want to plan your real flat on an Android phone and live in it before you buy, Flatwalk is the better choice: walk through it at eye level, furnish it with real shop pieces, add lights, see the sun for your address and the street outside, free for one flat.

What Flatwalk does that older planners skip

Lights
Add ceiling lights, lamps and LED strips and see the room lit as you walk through it.

Your flat in its city
Give the address and the street and buildings around you appear in 3D where the map has them, so you see what is outside each window.

Sun for your address
The light falls where it really falls, by date and hour.

One piece, in your own room
Through the live camera or in a photo of the room, stand a sofa on your own floor at its true size before you buy it.

Detail
Dozens of door and window types, and kitchens, wardrobes and bathrooms built piece by piece, with real floors, tiles and paints.

Made for a thumb
Tap a wall, a door or a sofa and the choices for that thing appear. It is a phone app first, not a browser editor squeezed onto a small screen.
Swipe for more. Every picture is the app itself.
One flat, free
Most people plan one home. For that, Flatwalk costs nothing: no trial clock, no credits and no card. Draw the plan or scan the rooms, measure, furnish with real pieces from real shops, set the lights and the sun, and walk through it as often as you like. Each AI tool gives one free try: a flat from a photo of your floor plan, an AI photo of a room, a piece of furniture made from a shop link. A membership is for people who want more flats or more AI, and it bundles all of it in one price.
Where Floorplanner is stronger
- It works in any browser on a computer, with nothing to install, and you can share a plan as a link or as FML or DXF files once a project is upgraded. Flatwalk is an Android phone app for now.
- It is quick and precise for floor plans: walls, doors and windows move in 1 cm or quarter-inch steps, and exports go up to 8K.
- Its library is far larger, with many brands, and it is free for schools.
- It has run since 2007 and, its site says, has over 30 million registered users. Flatwalk is new.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Flatwalk if you have an Android phone and one real flat to plan, and you want to walk through it at eye level, lit, in its own sun and street, with a priced list of real furniture, without paying.
- Choose Floorplanner if you work on a computer, want a clean floor plan or 3D images to share, or would rather pay per project than subscribe.
Questions people ask
Is Floorplanner free? Yes, for casual use, its pricing page says: up to 5 free projects, limited to 3 floors and 3 designs in all, with SD exports that carry a watermark. Bigger exports and more floors are paid per project with credits.
Is there a Floorplanner app for Android? Not on the pages we read. Floorplanner runs in a browser, and its scanning app, Floorscanner, works only on iPhones and iPads with a LiDAR scanner, its help centre says.
Is Roomstyler the same as Floorplanner? Roomstyler's own page says it is powered by Floorplanner. It is a design community with a 3D room planner and moodboards, and it lists more than 120,000 items from brands.
Can Floorplanner turn a photo of my floor plan into 3D? Its help centre describes uploading a JPG, PNG or PDF of a floor plan, scaling it 1:1 and drawing the walls over it. Flatwalk reads a photo of your plan into a flat, with one free try.
Is Flatwalk free? Yes, for planning one flat: every ordinary tool, with no trial clock, and one free try of each AI tool. Memberships add more flats and more AI.
